  • What is Cultivate?
CULTIVATE is a 18-month CSPC Women's Ministry mentoring/discipleship program which connects mentors and mentees. Cultivate is designed to help women grow spiritually by pairing them with mentors who are eager to intentionally engage and navigate all areas of life with them. Throughout your Cultivate journey, you will experience: Rich spiritual mentoring rooted in God’s Word. Wisdom and encouragement from a woman ahead in her walk with Jesus. Explore what Scripture says about relevant day-to-day topics such as identity, calling, gratitude, relationships, prayer, and others.
  • What is Discipleship? What is Mentorship?
Discipleship is the process of teaching and sharing about our faith as followers of Christ. Discipleship involves intentional learning about Jesus to grow in likeness of Him. Mentorship is walking alongside others, sharing how to live out discipleship in our day-to-day life. A mentor teaches, guides, prays for, and encourages a mentee throughout their journey in discipleship. The desire of Cultivate encompasses a blending of these two concepts as we grow closer in our walk with Jesus through deep, intentional study of Scripture and relationship with our sisters in Christ, while equipping one another for the abundant life God has called us to flourish in. When we use the word "mentor" we are referring to both discipleship and mentorship. As mentors, we hold both parts equally as we invest in those who God has placed in our care.
  • Why Cultivate?
Because there is unmistakable evidence in Scripture of the call to mentor the next generation (Titus 2, Malachi 4:6, Elisha/Eliijah, Isaiah 8:18, etc.) Because these intentional relationships create a safe place for us to listen, ask hard questions, unearth potential, diligently pray for and unconditionally love the young mentee in our care. The goal of this relationship is to point the mentee to Jesus, and He will work out their purpose and place in this world. Mentors serve as a compass always pointing to true north – Jesus. The model described in Titus 2 is one way we obey Christ’s Great Commission. It is a way we give the legacy of biblical womanhood to the next generation. Because the way we live matters and we are called to influence the way others live as well. Not only because of the quality and the look of our lives, but because of the way we demonstrate God in our lives and the advancement of the Gospel as Titus 2 describes!
  • How is Cultivate Structured?
We believe growth happens in context of relationships. Cultivate consists of small group (2 mentors and 4 mentees) as well as one-on-one meetings (mentor: mentee).
  • How many mentors and mentees are in a group?
Our mentor-to-mentee ratio ideally is 2 mentors to 4 mentees. This depends somewhat on the mentor's capacity and choice, but more on the number of accepted mentors and mentees into the program each year. Each group will meet 1x/month plus optional group dinner/social 1x/month Each mentor within the group is paired with two mentees and will intentionally connect with each mentee through weekly texts/phone call to check-in as well as meet one-on-one 1x/month with each mentee.
  • What are the monthly and weekly requirements?
Mentors: Time in the word on your own at least 5x/week. Meet with your mentoring group 1x/month plus and optional group dinner/social 1x/month Meet one-on-one with each of your mentees 1x/month Cultivate gatherings with all mentor and mentees in the program 5x throughout the 18 months (Kick-off, 3-Cultivate Collectives, Finale) Mentees: Time in the word on your own at least 5x/week. • What is the reading material used?
FLOURISH is the curriculum we use created by Passion City Church that connects women in a Biblical-based mentoring relationship to encourage and challenge on another in their walk with Jesus. The curriculum is fully Bible based using scriptures for each topic covered.
  • Is there a cost involved?
Each mentor and mentee is responsible for purchasing their own FLOURISH book. The book can purchased through Amazon, Lifeway, Christianbook.com, or FlourishMentor.com. These sources will have their own pricing and shipping rates. If you are unable to purchase the material, please contact Kerry at kerrymyers@cspc.net
  • Do I get to pick my mentor?
If you are using the FLOURISH CURRICULUM for individual use, you may pursue any woman in your life as your mentor. For those participating in CULTIVATE with Cedar Springs Church, you will be assigned a mentor. We are very intentional with the matching process. We read every application with great intention and much prayer. We consider many factors to provide each mentee with the best mentor possible given her stage and season of life. We also consider geographic location.
  • Do I have to be mature in my walk with Jesus to participate in CULTIVATE?
All you need is a willingness to commit to the journey! That’s what CULTIVATE is for — to help you grow in your walk with Jesus. Your mentor may not have all the answers, but she will open Scripture and walk with you as you gain a better understanding of who Jesus is. So, in other words, you need just the right amount of maturity to stick to your commitment and press on to see what God has in store for you through this opportunity!
  • Do you provide training for mentors?
Yes! We want to equip you to feel confident in your role and will provide training and clear expectations prior to program beginning as well as periodic trainings throughout the year as a group. Our Women's Ministry staff and Cultivate Leadership Team are always available to help and support you in any way you need.
  • Where do I turn in my application?
There are 3 ways to do this. However, one way is the best way to insure that your application is received. UPLOAD to our system (best way) Email to kerrymyers@cspc.net Turn into the Cedar Springs receptions desk
